Chairman of the Board, Perkins Family Charitable Trust
L.F. “Sonny” Perkins is the father of Founder and Chief Executive Officer Taylor Perkins. In 2015, he and Taylor started facilitating multifamily development projects together through their family business 37urban, which was started in 2015. Through multiple repositioning projects, they set out to create a new blended multifamily/hospitality company bringing the nuance of hospitality in to multifamily projects. Working with Taylor through a variety of residential/commercial/multifamily projects they did together spanning from Austin to Nashville, TN, they began acquiring in southern Maine in 2020 with The York Beach Surf Club and an assemblage of a residential portfolio.
Helping to identify the target markets, Sonny sits in an operational and advisory role in 37urban, spearheading investment projects and asset acquisitions alongside Taylor.
Sonny has over $4bn in project management experience in all asset classes, from hotels and bed and breakfasts to oil refineries, high-rise parking structures, and even the Bolivia Brazil Pipeline. He has sat with some of the most influential dignitaries throughout Latin America to negotiate world-changing opportunities for countries in South America with the United States, and has visited over 70 countries over six continents in his lifetime (hoping to check off the last in the next few years). He continues to represent the Perkins family in New England through various charitable organizations he works through and with, and is Chairman of the Board of the Perkins Family Charitable Trust.
